A seat that gets dirty again a week after cleaning. A light carpet where an outline stayed behind after the spilled coffee was gone. Rear seats a different shade than the rest of the cabin from the sun. Car textile has no continuous layer on top of it — dirt gets into the fibre straight away and comes out harder than it went in.
Ceramic textile protection Textile V3
Seats and carpets soak up water and dirt and stains return after cleaning. Textile V3 ceramic textile protection at SEVEN Works in Ústí nad Labem.
What is going on
The fibre is absorbent along its whole length, so liquid does not stay on the surface but travels deeper. Two effects we know from complaints after cleaning come from there. The first is wicking: after wet extraction, residual water from the substrate is drawn back up to the surface as it dries and brings contaminants with it, so the stain returns once it is dry. The second is resoiling — residue from cheap cleaners stays in the fibre, attracts dust, and the cleaned seat gets dirty faster than before.
The sun adds to it. On light interiors, UV radiation breaks down the pigmentation of the textile and the colour fades unevenly, depending on where it falls during the day.
What we do about it
Textile V3 is a nano-ceramic coating for textile. Its molecules bond firmly to the fibre itself and form a thin continuous film on it. The fibre is then hydrophobic: water and coffee stay on top and bead off instead of soaking in. According to the manufacturer, the film blocks over 99 % of UV radiation, so the pigmentation of light textile holds longer. The surface is also passivated, dirt does not cling to it to the same degree, and the interval between hot-water extractions gets longer. The manufacturer states a service life of twelve months and more.
It belongs on textile seats and on carpets, front and rear. The application is multi-stage and is done in the studio; once applied, the film needs time to cure before anyone sits in the car again. You will get the price for your car in the proposal.
Where the limit is
The coating does not clean. It goes onto textile that has been completely cleaned and dried beforehand — on a soiled seat the film would seal the dirt underneath. Depending on the state of the interior, it is preceded by detailed interior cleaning on a well-kept car, deep interior cleaning where the dirt has soaked into the fibre, and on neglected cars extreme interior cleaning. This coating is not applied to Alcantara, and leather has its own product. The headliner has only a thin layer and risks delamination, so we apply the coating to it only with caution. And a surface that already carries some coating does not get a new one until the old one is removed.
