Car Interior Cleaning

Dust in the air vents, crumbs in the seat seams, smudges on the plastics? Interior detailing covers both the visible surfaces and the harder-to-reach spots. It suits an interior dirtied by everyday driving.

You open the door and at first glance it looks fine. Look closer, though, and you see dust in the air vents and around the gear lever, crumbs in the seams between the seat base and the backrest, a grey film on the plastics around the door handles, and smudges everywhere a hand reaches. A regular vacuum won't fix it, because most of the dirt sits exactly where the vacuum hose can't reach. Interior cleaning is for cars in the state everyday driving leaves them: the interior is dirty, but the dirt has stayed on the surface and hasn't soaked into the fabric.

When the car just needs a routine tidy-up and the dirt isn't really visible, the step below, Interior Hand Wash, is enough. If the seats and carpets have stains that have soaked in, or there's a smell in the cabin, choose the step above, Deep Interior Cleaning. For a heavily neglected interior, vomit, blood or a strong smell, there's Neglected Interior and Odour Cleaning.

What you're paying for

  • Visible surfaces. We thoroughly clean everything you touch and look at in the car, from the dashboard and door panels to the seats and carpets.
  • Seams and harder-to-reach spots. We get settled dust and fine dirt out of the places where it collects and that a routine clean doesn't reach.
  • A process matched to the material. The word "leather" covers several different materials in a car, and each takes a different kind of cleaning. We tell by sight and by touch which surface you have and choose the process and products accordingly. More on that in What Leather Do You Have in Your Car.
  • A uniform look. Afterwards the interior is equally clean and pleasant to the touch throughout. There are no cleaned patches sitting next to forgotten ones.

Detailed cleaning works on the surface of the materials, not their depth. It doesn't reach into the fibres of the fabric — that's what deep cleaning is for.

What the price depends on

The price depends on the size of the car and how dirty the interior is. It also depends on what the interior is made of: fabric upholstery is cleaned differently from leather with a protective coating, and alcantara on the steering wheel and seats is cleaned differently again. Why alcantara isn't cleaned like leather is explained in Alcantara on the Steering Wheel Is Getting Shiny. We work out the scope of the job from the interior's actual condition.

What cleaning won't fix

Stains that have soaked into the seat base or carpet will still be there after detailed cleaning. For those there's Deep Interior Cleaning. If a smell is only there when the fan is blowing, it isn't coming from the interior — it's coming from the air conditioning. What to do about that is covered in Your Car Smells When the Vents Blow.
