A week after washing, the car is grey again. Dust and road grime stick to the paint, water spreads across the bonnet, and washing takes longer than it should. You want to improve that now, but you're not ready to invest in protection for years ahead: you're changing the car soon, it doesn't drive much, or you just want to try the difference between protected and unprotected paint first.
That's what basic surface protection is for. We apply a layer to the paint that dust and everyday dirt stick to less, so the car washes more easily and gently. It lasts a shorter time than ceramic, and it's meant to be renewed.
How it differs from ceramic protection
Ceramic surface protection bonds with the paint and protects for one, three or five years depending on the line. The shortest of them is the one-year The Original Ceramic. Basic protection is a shorter, simpler step. It suits you as a starting point, or when you just need the car easier to maintain for a certain period. A detailed comparison is in the article Basic or ceramic protection.
What you're paying for
- A paint inspection. We'll tell you what's dirt that will come off and what's a defect the layer won't hide.
- Preparation based on the surface's condition. The layer only bonds to clean paint, so we wash it and remove contamination before applying it.
- Applying the protective layer to the paint.
- Handover. We'll tell you how to wash the car so the layer lasts as long as possible.
What the price depends on
On the car's size, the surface's condition, and how much preparation the paint needs. A car that's washed regularly needs little of it. A car with dried-on dirt and old layers needs more. We'll determine the scope and price based on the paint's actual condition.
If something goes wrong
We give a two-year warranty on the work, and the manufacturer's warranty applies to the material. If anything looks off to you on the layer, bring the car in and we'll take a look together.
When to choose a different route
Basic protection won't stop stone chips or scuffs — that's what PPF film is for. It won't fix swirls and scratches the paint already has; paint correction will, and protection comes after that. If you don't know what condition the paint is in, start with paint diagnostics. Once protected, you can then maintain the car with us through car wash for ceramic or film protection.
Request basic surface protection
Write to us with what car you have, how often you wash it, where it parks and how long you plan to keep it. If you're not sure whether basic protection is enough or ceramic is worth it, tell us that too and we'll advise. Prefer to call? We're at +420 739 374 074.
