Hand Wash

Car hand wash in three levels: exterior only, interior only, or the full package in a single visit. We wash by hand, without machine-wash brushes. We'll recommend the right level based on how your car looks.

The car is grey with road dust, the front bumper and mirrors are dotted with insects, and the wheels are dark with brake dust. Inside, dust has settled on the dashboard and sand from your shoes grinds in the carpets. You don't want to take it through a brush car wash, because afterwards you can see fine swirl marks on the bonnet in the sun. And at home you have neither the space nor the means to wash it.

Hand Wash is for a car in regular condition that you want to keep clean, not change. We wash by hand, without machine-wash brushes. If you keep the car maintained yourself between visits, the article Car Care When You Have Nowhere to Wash It can help. When washing isn't enough, one level up is Thorough Wash with Residue Removal or Detailed Exterior Wash. You don't have to pick the level yourself: tell us what the car looks like, and we'll recommend one.

Three Levels of Washing

  • Exterior only: Hand Wash. Bodywork, wheels and glass. For a car that's fine on the inside.
  • Interior only: Interior Hand Wash. Vacuuming floors, carpets and seats, wiped-down plastics and touch surfaces, glass from the inside.
  • The whole car at once: Hand Wash Outside and Inside. Exterior and interior in a single appointment, without a second trip.
  • A car with ceramic coating or PPF film: Car Wash for Ceramic or Film Protection. We adapt the process to the protection on the paint.

What You're Paying For

Washing the exterior has the same basis at every level:

  1. Pre-wash. Heavy dirt and sand come off before the mitt touches the paint. Otherwise the mitt would drag them across it.
  2. Hand washing the bodywork.
  3. Washing the wheels and tyres.
  4. Rinsing and gentle drying. Water that dries on the paint leaves spots behind. Why drying matters so much is explained in the article Drying the Car.
  5. Finishing off the details.

Washing and surface preparation at the studio is handled by Daniel Kumšta. It's about cleanliness only: we don't polish or correct the paint. You drive away with a clean car and the paint in the same condition it was in.

What the Price Depends On

The price depends on the level you choose, the car's size and how much work it takes. A small car has less surface area than a large SUV or estate. A car that was last washed months ago has insects dried onto the front and a heavier build-up on the wheels, and washing it takes longer. We'll tell you the exact amount based on the car's actual condition.

When Washing Alone Isn't Enough

Washing removes dirt, not what holds more firmly in the paint. For build-up that washing won't shift, there's Thorough Wash with Residue Removal. Dull or scratched paint won't regain its gloss from washing. Paint Diagnostics will tell you what can be done about it. For stains and odours in the upholstery, there's Interior Cleaning.
