Changing the look

A New Colour You Can Undo

3 minEstimated reading time — roughly how many minutes it takes to read at a normal screen pace.

You picked the colour at a desk in the showroom, from a small swatch card, and at the time it made sense. Now you see it every morning in the car park and it doesn't please you anymore. A full respray is an expensive way out: it takes weeks, it leaves a trace in the car's history, and the next owner will ask about it. But the colour of your car doesn't have to be a decision for life.

A film that changes the colour and protects the paint underneath

FlexiShield coloured protective film is the same physical layer as clear PPF, just in colour. That's the whole difference from an ordinary design wrap, which changes the look and nothing else. Coloured PPF also keeps stone chips, scuffs and small impacts off the paint exactly like clear film.

The material is TPU, a flexible plastic that's heated during installation so it follows the shape of the panel. The surface is hydrophobic, so dirt sticks to it less. You still have to wash the car. The film resists yellowing, fading and cracking, but that's a property of the layer, not of the paint underneath it. It isn't chemical protection or polishing — it's a physical layer against impact.

Reversible actually means reversible

The paint under the film stays exactly as it was when the film went on. If you change your mind a few years down the line, the film comes off and the car is back to its original colour, with the paperwork that still matches. That's the main reason people choose film over a respray. The decision can be undone.

What has to be sorted out beforehand

The film locks in the paint's current condition. Flaws included. Swirl marks from washing, dull patches and fine hairline scratches the paint has today won't disappear under the coloured layer, and once the film comes off they'll still be there. That's why paint correction is arranged beforehand, as a separate step with its own price.

So we want to look at the car first. Only from its actual condition can we say what needs to happen before installation.

With panels removed, or without

This is where it's decided how the result looks up close. Without removing panels, the film's edges run across the visible surface of the panel. It's faster, cheaper, and you won't notice it from a normal distance. With panels removed, the film wraps around the edge, under the trim and into the seams, so the transition isn't visible at all. If you also want to unify the gloss trim around the windows while you're at it, dechrome handles that in the same visit.

The difference between the two approaches isn't in the colour or the protection. It's in what you see when you lean in half a meter from the car.

When a plain wrap is the better choice

Coloured PPF is a protective film, and it's priced like one. If what you need is graphics, a company wrap or a change for one season, a design wrap is cheaper and does the job. Coloured PPF makes sense when you want both at once: a different colour and protection for the paint underneath.

Don't expect it to fix what's already on the paint, either. The film's self-healing top coat straightens out wash marks and light hairline scratches — in the film itself. A key scrape or a deeper scratch it won't repair, because there the material is missing and there's nothing to straighten out.

What we do

The film here is installed by Lukáš Vyskočil and Sebastian Vyskočil. We give a 2-year warranty on the work and carry out warranty checks.

We won't quote you a price or a deadline off the top of our heads. Both depend on what car you bring in, how many panels get filmed, whether they'll be removed, and whether the paint needs correction first. You'll find the scope and prices on the coloured PPF film page; the exact amount and how long the car will stay with us, we'll tell you after we've seen it.

Tell us what car you have and what colour you're considering. You can also call +420 739 374 074.
